Minute With Mallon! What’s One Choice Worth?

Welcome to Minute with Mallon!

Something I Taught:

One of my clients is making some big changes to how he thinks about work—and to what he actually does on a daily basis.

He’s a very successful attorney and has been for years. But he’s reached a point where the work that once energized him… doesn’t anymore. He’s not burned out, but he’s definitely on the way.

So, we’re working on shifting his mindset and how he approaches his week—day by day, week by week.

As part of this work, I told him about a book I read years ago called Cashflow Quadrant by Robert Kiyosaki. It changed my life—and the lives of my three sons.

If you’ve ever wondered why some people work hard and stay stuck, while others seem to build wealth with more freedom and flexibility, you need to read this book.

Kiyosaki explains that there are four main ways people earn money:

Employee (E), Self-Employed (S), Business Owner (B), and Investor (I).

Most people live in the E or S quadrant—trading time for money. But lasting financial freedom, he argues, comes from moving into the B and I quadrants, where systems and investments work for you. This book isn’t just about money—it’s about rethinking how you earn, build, and grow your life.

That’s exactly what we're doing with my client.

He has a very capable assistant who, with support from a few other attorneys, is more than able to run the practice without my client being involved day to day.

So to make it real, he’s offering his assistant a $100 bonus for every week he works less than 5 hours in the business.

This creates motivation for her to handle the day-to-day calls, issues, and details, while giving him the time and space to focus on the B and I quadrants.

Which, by the way, will earn him a lot more B & I income!

There’s no doubt in my mind that he’ll excel at this—because he made a definite, conscious decision to do something new.

So what does this have to do with you?

I’m not trying to get you to quit your job!

But...

If you've been reading this newsletter for any amount of time, you know that

Every great journey starts with a choice, not a step!

Part of the value I give to my clients is in helping them to

●  Make the right decisions,

●  And hold them accountable to what they said they were going to do.

Many know that I sometimes provide Loving Accountability, with a Big Stick! 🤭🪨🔥

So put some thought into these three questions:

●  What decision have you been putting off that could change everything?

●  If nothing changes… what might your life look like a year from now?

●  What’s one choice you could make today that your future self would thank you for?

And I'll offer you this: send me a quick email at Robert@RobertMallon.com and tell me what you choose! That will be a small step today into your new, better future! I'd truly love to hear it‼

Something I Learned

Every single morning since October 2023, I take time in an app called “Through the Word.”

I can honestly tell you that I've not missed one single day. Besides kissing my wife good morning, it is the best part of my day.

In a lesson this week, the narrator talked about how we need to be rooted with other like-minded people. It's essential to our growth and I'd even say to our survival.

Here's an interesting passage:

Here in California, we have the tallest trees in the world—the Sequoia redwoods. I love them! They grow well past 300 feet tall and stand towering above the earth for centuries without falling. Some of them are more than 2,000 years old.

Just imagine the storms they've seen and stood through. But did you know that their roots grow only about 10 feet down? As an engineer, that's insane! How do they stay up? How have they survived the worst storms the California coast can offer for centuries?

Their secret: their roots don't go deep—they go together. Sequoia roots go down about 10 feet, then stretch out to the side more than 100 feet. They wrap up and tangle around the roots of all the other trees. In other words, they all hold each other up. And that’s how the world’s tallest trees stay standing for centuries.

That’s some pretty clever engineering—and not a bad idea for us.

Love that thought—I hope you do too!
